New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team had another impressive performance in their
90-76 exhibition win over Waldorf on Saturday in the LSC gymnasium.
The Knights shot an electric 51.5 percent on 17-of-33 from 3-point territory to secure the double-digit victory over the Warriors, with freshmen
Benjamin Pearson and
Adam Loberger lighting it up from deep. Pearson finished with a game-high 32 points while shooting 10-of-14 (71 percent) from the floor, including 6-of-8 from beyond the arc. The guard also made plays defensively and was a pest, leading the Knights with four steals.
Loberger scored 21 points and grabbed seven boards while knocking down four 3-point attempts.Â
MLC took a 43-39 lead into halftime but opened up the second half on a 10-0 run to separate a bit more over Waldorf, making it 53-39. The Knights' offensive ball moment seemed to be clicking in this one and got a lot of good looks from deep on solid spacing.
The Warriors would go on mini runs in the second half and cut it to six and seven points on separate occasions, but MLC responded with critical shots to keep them at bay.
Senior
Seth Veers made his presence known with nice passing and found open cutters near the hoop, posting a team-best six assists.
Ethan Kjenstad scored 16 points, while
Trey Lauber had 11 points and went 3-of-4 from deep.
MLC will now use this second exhibition victory to help them prepare for their season opener against Rockford on Friday, November 8, where the Knights tip off the regular season in the LSC at 3 p.m.
