Men's Soccer Finishes Season on a High Note in 3-2 Victory Over North Central

Minneapolis, MN - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team grabbed a 3-2 win in their final contest of the 2024 season at North Central on Saturday.

North Central struck first in the game at around the 17th minute of the first period, but the Knights answered back a minute later as Joshua Krenke scored on a penalty goal kick to tie it up 1-1.

The score remained 1-1 at halftime and for the first 20 minutes of play in the second period until fellow freshman, Abraham Schlomer broke the tie with a goal in the 65th minute.

MLC would hold onto the lead for nearly 10 minutes before the Rams evened it up once more on a goal by Sam Saye. The back-and-forth pace of the game would have one final rebuttal as Schlomer hit the game-winning goal at the 80th minute to put the Knights up 3-2 for good as they held on for the close road win. On that final goal, senior defender Jedidiah Mittelstadt wrapped up his collegiate career with an assist.

Krenke and Schlomer had three shots on goal apiece and Nicholas Russ finished with nine saves at goalie. MLC also overcame a chippy game, that saw the Rams record seven cards (2 red).

MLC finishes the 2024 season with a 4-14-2 overall record, 3-10-1 UMAC, and comes in sixth-place in the conference standings, edging out North Central due to the tiebreaker rules.
