Minneapolis, MN - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team fell to North Central University on the road
99-63 on Friday night.
The men stuck with the Rams for a good chunk of the first half and trailed by only four points (30-26) after a pair of
Luke Fix free throws at the 7:10 mark. The North Central backcourt would find their way to the paint in the final stretch of the half and would take a 47-35 lead heading into the break.
The Rams opened the second half up with a 22-4 run that was fueled by the outside shooting of Nik Feller. The guard finished with 17 points, while Ja'Shon Simpson had a game-high 18 points to lead the North Central backcourt.
For the game, MLC had 33 turnovers and the Rams capitalized on them, scoring 46 points off the Knights' miscues.Â
Besides Feller, the Knights did force North Central into just 27.5 percent shooting from the field.
Seth Veers led MLC with 16 points at the forward position, while
Thomas Balge and
Paul Frick had 11 points apiece, with Frick going 5-for-6 from the field.
With the loss, MLC goes to 4-18 overall and 2-9 in the UMAC. The men will look to bounce back and create the same juice that it had in its upset win over Northwestern on December 8. The two schools will go at it on Saturday, February 10, at 4:45 p.m. in the Ericksen Center in St. Paul.
