Minneapolis, MN - The Martin Luther College outdoor track and field team participated in the Gary Wilson Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota on Wednesday. In the meet, the Knights went up against multiple Division I and II schools including Minnesota, St. Thomas (MN), South Dakota State, North Dakota State, and Concordia St. Paul. Despite the tough competition, the Knights still went out and finished competitively in numerous events.
Men
Samuel Plocher earned sixth place out of 27 jumpers in the high jump with a mark of 1.93 meters.
Jack Pittenger took eighth in the javelin throw (46.23 meters), while
Thomas Plocher had a personal record in the long jump with a mark of 6.19 meters (out of 32 jumpers.)
In the running events,
Elijah Hutchinson claimed a season best run in the 5000 meter open and finished in fifth after his time of 16:51.33. Meanwhile,
Micah Schibbelhut placed 18th out of 49 runners in the 400-meter run (51.31 seconds.)
Women
Naomi Foley had a season best time in the 400-meter run with a mark of 1:03.51, which put her 28th out of 44 participants.Â
In the high jump,
Ella Schlei took 13th out of 30 jumpers with a mark of 1.51 meters.

MLC track and field will have one final meet this coming Saturday, April 27, at Gustavus before they prepare for the UMAC Championships on May 3-4.
