Ripon, WI - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team completed the non-conference portion of their 2024 schedule as they went on the road to play the Ripon College Redhawks. The Knights played well as a team, but were unable to overcome two Ripon goals, as they defeated MLC
2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Neither team was able to crack the scoring column in the first period, but that would change fairly quick in the second period as Ripon found the back of the net due to a penalty kick goal scored by midfielder Alyssa Klementzos in the 47th minute.
17 minutes later Klementzos put the Redhawks up two goals on a long shot in the wind.Â
MLC had their chances to score, but couldn't come through on the scoreboard.
Katie Schoeneck had a shot on goal for the Knights, while the Redhawks put up five shots on target during the game.
The Knights (2-3-1) will travel to Minnesota Morris on Wednesday, September 18, for their second meeting of the season with the Cougars. There, the Knights will look to build off of their 1-0 win over Minnesota Morris last Thursday. The game begins at 2 p.m.
