Northfield, MN - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team had a quick turnaround from their Saturday game as they got ready for a nonconference battle at Carleton College on Monday evening. The Knights gave a solid effort but the (Carleton Knights) had too much inside the paint, scoring 64 points inside the key to defeat MLC
86-70.
MLC defended the perimeter well, only giving up 18 percent shooting on 4-of-18 attempts by Carleton. However, they received a balanced output of production from their starting five and a few players off the bench and took care of the ball with only seven turnovers committed.
MLC shot well from the floor, shooting 43 percent for the game, and heated up offensively in the second half with a 51 percent clip.
Benjamin Pearson led the Knights in many areas on the court and finished with a 22-point performance in addition to 10 rebounds and two blocks all of which led the team. The freshman point guard also knocked down six 3-pointers. Fellow freshman
Adam Loberger had another game in double figures (14 points, 8 rebounds).
The Knights (4-9, 1-3) will be back on the road for a Wednesday UMAC contest with Bethany. Both teams will meet up at 5:30 p.m.
