New Ulm, MN - The MLC men's soccer team took on the Crown Polars at home Tuesday afternoon on a cold and windy fall day. The Knights put up another good fight, but Crown bested MLC
4-1.
The wind played a big factor in the game as both teams battled through it, with the Polars getting on the board first in the 16th minute. MLC tied up the game 1-1 after
Johannes Bourman hit a long shot that bended in the back of the net to give the Knights a boost.
From there, Crown made it 2-1 in the 30th minute after an MLC handball that occurred in the penalty box, leading to a penalty kick.
The second period then saw the Polars add on a couple more goals to take a 4-1 lead, scoring in 56th and 65th minute of the contest. The second period of the game also saw five yellow cards being issued, as each team picked up the intensity on the field. Crown was given three, while MLC had two yellow cards called on them.
Crown out shot MLC 17-5 (8-2 shots on target). MLC will have one more home game this season when they host Northwestern for a 3:30 p.m. game on Saturday, October 25.
