New Ulm, MN - On a windy and cold day, the MLC women's soccer team finished its afternoon home contest against Crown with a
1-1 tie.
The Knights had many opportunities to score and finally cracked the scoring column late into the game, scoring off of a corner kick from
Rachel Schoeneck in the 83rd minute. With the goal, MLC managed to draw even with the Polars, after Crown scored its goal earlier on in the game around the 23rd minute.
MLC outshot Crown 18-6 (8-2 shots on target) and the Knights' shut down Crown defensively, holding the Polars to no shot attempts in the entirety of the second period.
Schoeneck led MLC with three shots on goal, while
Ava Beilman recorded two shots on net.
Miriam Bitter got the start for the Knights at goalkeeper for
Maria Vik, who was out due to injury.
MLC will play one final home game in the regular season this Saturday, October 25, at 1 p.m. against Northwestern.
