Watertown, WI - The MLC men's basketball team completed a wire-to-wire victory over Maranatha Baptist on the road on Friday, beating the Sabercats
81-37.
The last nine minutes of the first half, the Knights went on an 18-3 run to close out the half, taking a 36-17 lead at the break. In the first half, MLC held Maranatha to just 18 percent shooting.
MLC had no trouble in the second half as well and didn't let the Sabercats get a chance at a comeback as they extended their lead even further, going up by as many as 45 points around the 3:34 mark.
The Knights scored over half of their points from the paint (44) and took care of the ball, limiting their turnovers to only seven for the contest.
Trey Lauber was the leading scorer for the Knights, finishing with a game-high 19 points with six rebounds and two 3-pointers.
Ethan Kjenstad also knocked down a couple of 3-pointers and recorded 16 points. Meanwhile,
Adam Loberger notched his second double-double of the season (14 points, 11 rebounds).
MLC will have one more game before Thanksgiving, when they travel to Minnesota Morris on Monday, November 24, at 7 p.m. When the Knights play the Cougars that night, it will not count toward the UMAC standings.
