New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team was on fire from beyond the arc in Monday's standalone nonconference game versus Oak Hills Christian. The Knights made a season-high 16 3-pointers en route to an
87-59 win over the Wolf Pack.
MLC's offense was clicking from all cylinders in the first half and it didn't matter which lineup was out on the court as the Knights made it 41-11 with under the nine-minute mark. Senior
Nathan Miller came off the bench and was feeling it from deep, hitting five 3-pointers in only 14 minutes of playing time. Miller finished with his best performance of the season, scoring 17 points on an efficient 60 percent clip.
Adam Loberger led all scorers from both sides with 20 points in limited time (17 minutes) and connected on 50 percent of his 3-point attempts. Overall, MLC moved the ball with ease in the halfcourt and in their fastbreak opportunities and came up with a season-high in assists (26).
Benjamin Vasold in this area and found open shooters all game long, leading the squad with six assists. Vasold and fellow freshman
Benjamin Pearson finished with 10 points apiece.
Almost every MLC player got into the game and the Knights gathered 36 points from the bench, while also scoring 17 fastbreak points. Additionally, MLC also crashed the boards well and had another season high as a team with 50 rebounds.
MLC improved to 7-12 overall, 2-6 UMAC, and has another home game within a couple days as the Knights prepare to host Bethany on Wednesday, February 5. There, MLC hopes that the ball will bounce their way in the second matchup with the Vikings after narrowly losing to them 95-93 on January 22.
