Minneapolis, MN - The Martin Luther College softball team began the 2025 season at the Augsburg Dome Tournament, a four-game event that the Knights have played in for the second consecutive season. Friday's doubleheader saw MLC face UW-River Falls, where the Falcons swept the Knights
16-0 and
12-0 after they no-hit MLC twice.
Game 1 UW-River Falls 16, MLC 0
After a scoreless first inning from both squads, UW-River Falls put together an explosive three innings at the plate to take the first matchup. The Falcons posted four runs in the second and followed that up with six runs in the third and fourth frames.
UW-River Falls collected 17 hits, with six of them counting as extra-base hits.Â
Chloe Berg recorded six putouts at first base.
Game 2 UW-River Falls 12, MLC 0
The Falcons got another impressive outing from their pitchers on the mound, as UW-River Falls no-hit the Knights in the second contest in the dome. Alexa Dusterhoft and Lindsey Duggan struck out 10 MLC batters along the way.
MLC was led out in the field by
Rachel McCaughna, who recorded four assists at third base, while Berg finished with nine putouts.
MLC (0-2) will be playing in a doubleheader against Augsburg University tomorrow, starting at 12:30 p.m.
