New Ulm, MN - The MLC men's tennis team secured their first win of the season in a
6-1 victory over Bethany on the MLC tennis courts this afternoon. The Knights took two of the doubles matches and won the third game by default due to Bethany being shorthanded. The pair of
Johannes Bourman and
Eli Stern handled their opponent 6-1 in No. 1, while
Isaiah Scharf and
Abraham Schlomer won their game 6-2. MLC won in straight sets.
Stern (6-2, 6-2) and Scharf (6-2, 6-1) also won in singles play in the No. 2 and No. 3 games, respectively. MLC claimed another singles game when
Aidan Mattek defeated his No. 3 adversary 6-1, 6-2.
The other two points came in No. 5 and No. 6 singles via forfeit, giving
Noah Koelpin and Schlomer the automatic victories.
MLC (1-8, 1-1) will take on Bethany once again in nearly a week after Easter Break. The Knights will play them in Mankato on Wednesday, April 23, at 3 p.m.
