Emma Dorn and
Matthew Hillmer were announced as finalists for the 2025 UMAC Scholar-Athlete Leadership Award on Wednesday.
Each spring, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) recognizes outstanding senior student-athletes who demonstrate a healthy balance by achieving excellence in academics, leadership, and service while participating in intercollegiate athletics through the UMAC Scholar-Athlete Leadership Award.
Dorn and Hillmer are among eight male and female finalists vying for the honor. The male and female winners will be officially announced on Wednesday, April 23.
Dorn played five seasons with MLC basketball, earning UMAC Honorable Mention twice and Second Team in 2022-23. Dorn also finished her playing career at MLC in or at the top of a few school records, including first in career rebounds (693), fourth in career points (1,031), and fourth in career made field goals (406). Dorn was also a part of the MLC outdoor track and field team and received All-UMAC honors in 2022 and 2023. Dorn will graduate this spring with a double major in Elementary Education and Chemistry Education.
Hillmer played three seasons with MLC football in the secondary, recording 97 tackles along the way. Hillmer also competed in outdoor and indoor track and field. The senior earned All-UMAC recognition in indoor track and field in 2025 and was one of the legs that were a part of the outdoor MLC record in the 4x200m relay (1:30.80). Hillmer will graduate in May of 2025 in Pre-Seminary Studies, Biblical Languages.
