St. Paul, MN - The MLC women's tennis team concluded its 2025 season with a road match at Northwestern on Saturday. Heading into the match, MLC had an opportunity to clinch a spot as the No. 2 seed in the UMAC North Championship if they could beat the Eagles. However, Northwestern went on to clinch it as they defeated the Knights
6-1.
Northwestern took two of the three doubles games to earn a point and received its five other points in singles play. The No. 3 doubles duo of
Katie Kutz and
Rebekah Schroeder won 6-2.
Meanwhile,
Britney Prahl challenged in No. 1 singles before her opponent won in a tiebreaker 4-6, 6-7 (6-10).
The MLC point came in No. 5 singles after
Katie Schoeneck topped her opponent in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Kutz gave a good effort in No. 6 singles, but fell 2-6, 5-7.
MLC finishes out the season 7-8 overall, 3-2 UMAC and third in the conference standings. The seven wins are also is the most victories for MLC women's tennis since the 2018 season, where the Knights finished 7-9 overall.
