New Ulm, MN - The MLC men's tennis team wrapped up its 2025 season with one final match on Friday afternoon against Buena Vista. The Knights challenged the Beavers in some games, but Buena Vista got the better of them, beating MLC
5-2 on the court.
After winning the doubles games decisively, MLC made it competitive in singles play and gained two points among the six singles contests.
Noah Koelpin won in No. 4 singles, defeating his opponent in a third-set tiebreaker 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9). The other Knights' point came in a tiebreaking manner as
Abraham Schlomer won in No. 6 singles 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8).
Johannes Bourman and
Eli Stern also played hard-fought games in No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Bourman took his counterpart down to the wire in a third-set tiebreaker, but fell 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 0-1 (10-12). Stern came back in his second set, but Buena Vista ended out on the top as the sophomore lost 2-6, 5-7.
With that result, MLC finished its year 3-10 overall, 2-2 UMAC and placed third in the conference.
