New Ulm, MN - The MLC women's soccer team celebrated Parents' Day on Saturday for the first conference home game of the season against North Central. MLC scored its two goals in the first half, and the defense held strong throughout the contest to win
2-1 over the Rams.
MLC dominated the ball and outshot North Central 27-6 (14-4 on net), and the defense locked up the Rams' offensively.
Rachel Schoeneck hit a goal through the back of the net in the 19th minute to give the Knights a 1-0 lead, and her sister,
Katie Schoeneck, added an important goal shortly after in the 26th minute.
North Central scored in the second period around the 51st minute. The Knights also had a clear advantage in corner kicks, having nine opportunities, while the Rams had none.
Rachel Schoeneck also rattled off four shots on goal, while
Katie Schoeneck and
Priscilla Boehm each had two apiece on target.
Ella Ristow recorded two shots on goal as a defender for the Knights, and
Naomi Foley had the assist on the first goal of the game.
MLC improves to 5-2-1 and will host Minnesota Morris for a UMAC game on Tuesday, September 23, at 4:30 p.m. The Knights previously beat the Cougars in an offensive game, 5-3, earlier this month in comeback fashion.
