NEW ULM, Minn. - Men's soccer put a late scare into Minnesota Morris on Saturday afternoon, but could not complete the comeback in a 2-1 home conference loss.
Freshman
Gabriel Habeck scored on a nice pass from
Jin Lee in the 86th minute to cut the Knights' deficit in half. Habeck would then get one more opportunity before the end of the game, but had his shot saved in the 89th minute.
MLC conceded twice in quick succession in the first half, giving up goals in the 13th and 16th minutes. Jake Anargyros scored the second after assisting the first for the Cougars.
The Knights found more momentum as the game wore on. After being outshot 20-1 in the first half, MLC was able to put the Cougars under more pressure and were only outshot 8-4 in the second.
Nicholas Russ made seven saves in the game and the defense in front of him did not give Morris many good looks. Of the 28 shots Morris attempted, only nine were on target.
