GREENVILLE, Ill. - Greenville dominated every facet of the game on Saturday afternoon on its way to a 28-0 win against MLC in UMAC play.
The Panthers led in nearly every meaningful statistical category. They outgained the Knights both rushing and receiving, their advantage in total offense was 463-193, including a 15-minute edge in time of possession.
Similar offensive issues popped up for MLC once again as they were just 2-for-11 on third downs, often operating in third-and-long situations. Conversely, Greenville converted a staggering 8-of-15 third downs and another 2-of-5 fourth down tries.
Greenville scored on back-to-back possessions at the end of the first quarter and then again at the start of the second. Meanwhile the Knights struggled to get anything going, punting five times and turning the ball over on downs once in the first half. The Panthers scored their third touchdown with less than a minute left in the first half and took a 21-0 lead into the break.
MLC only got three offensive possessions in the second half, losing a possession because of a muffed punt that Greenville recovered. On their three drives, one ended in a punt, one with an interception and the final drive ended the game.
Ethan Melso,
Carson Burow and
Tyler Case each made double-digit tackles on defense. Melso had 13, Burow made 11 and Case had 10.
