NEW ULM, Minn. - MLC women's soccer was frustrated by a stingy defensive effort from a short-handed North Central team on Saturday afternoon, drawing the Rams 1-1.
The Knights gave up and early goal on a penalty kick after
Ella Ristow was judged to have fouled an NCU player in the box. MLC responded later in the first half on a penalty kick of their own when
Katie Schoeneck was taken down in the area, allowing
Allison Olson to convert the penalty.
The Rams had just 11 players and no subs available, but defended resolutely despite being outshot 21-7 by the Knights, including a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal.
MLC controlled the majority of the play, including earning eight corner kicks; however, the Knights struggled to carve out many clear chances. Schoeneck, Olson and
Anna Kramer all had opportunities in the second half to give MLC the lead, but were unable to find the back of the net.
It was the second-straight draw as well as the fifth-straight game since their last loss.
