ST. PAUL, Minn. - MLC struck back with a goal just 47 seconds into the second half to tie up the match with Northwestern.
The Eagles would score 31 seconds later to restore the lead and hang on to beat the Knights 2-1 on Saturday evening in UMAC action.
Abraham Schlomer scored the goal for MLC, his third of the year, on an assist from
Joshua Krenke.
Northwestern had the lion's share of opportunities in the match, outshooting MLC 22-6, including an 11-3 advantage in shots on goal. MLC goalkeeper
Nicholas Russ made nine saves to keep the Knights in it, but the offense struggled to find chances.
Schlomer was the bright spot in the offensive area, he got three shots away and two of them were on target, including the goal. No other Knights player attempted more than a single shot.
