New Ulm, MN - The MLC softball team played its final home game of the 2026 season against Bethany to conclude the doubleheader in which the Vikings defeated the Knights in
6-1 (Game 1) and
19-0 (Game 2). In Game 3, Bethany beat MLC
8-1.
Game 1 Bethany 6, MLC 1
In last week's first contest, MLC stuck with Bethany throughout the first three innings and made it 3-1 after
Kaylee Pickering hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third frame.
The Vikings responded with a 2-run double in the top of the fourth and tacked on one more run in the fifth to ensure the victory over the Knights.
Kiara Humann led MLC with four assists defensively.
Game 2 Bethany 19, MLC 0
In the second game, Bethany scored their 19 runs off of 15 hits, including a five-run top of the first. The Vikings would add a home run in the second and then hit consecutive triples in the fourth frame to propel another five run inning.Â
Kieghtan Rank led the squad with four putouts at first base.
Game 3 Bethany 8, MLC 1
Despite the score, the Knights stayed competitive in the final game of the series, and through three innings, the Vikings held just a 2-0 lead. Rank led MLC with two base hits, including a double in the bottom of the second.
MLC will complete its season this coming weekend when they go to North Central for a 3-game series, starting on Friday, May 1, at 11 a.m.
