Knights use strong second half to knock off Faith Baptist

ANKENY, Iowa - Freshman Allison Olson was excellent from set pieces on Tuesday afternoon in MLC's 4-2 win against Faith Baptist.

Olson scored twice in the second half, first on a penalty kick in the 55th minute, then from a free kick in the 67th minute.

Coach Tyson Zarnstorff said all facets of MLC's performance improved in the second half.

"Our offense was more consistent with their passing," Zarnstorff said. "The second half was much better overall."

The defense also shored up things from an uncharacteristic first-half that saw the Knights concede twice. 

"Some lapses in defensive communication led to two goals," Zarnstorff said. "In the second half, our defense adjusted and played well."

MLC jumped out to the lead quickly. Senior Katie Schoeneck scored 28 seconds into the match on an assist from sophomore Anna Kramer.

Kramer then scored nine minutes later when she was assisted by Julianna Koehler.

Maria Vik made five saves to earn the win in goal.
