Jeff Schone

Jeff Schone enters his 12th season as the head coach of the Knights' women's soccer program in 2021.

Schone and the Knights finished the 2020-21 spring season (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) on a high note, winning four of their last five games to finish with a 4-6 overall record. That season followed a strong 2019 campgain in which the Knights recorded a fourth-place finish in the final UMAC standings and an overall record of 8-10-1.

The fourth-place finish was enough to send the Knights to the UMAC Postseason Tournament for the third time in Schone's tenure, and the team's overtime win over Bethany Lutheran in the play-in game marked the program's first postseason win under Schone.

The 2013 season was the best season during Schone’s tenure, as the team finished with a  record of 12-8, giving it the third most wins in program history.

In 2014, a young Knights' team finished tied for third in the final standings with a conference mark of 7-7, but lost a tie-breaker that would have sent them back to the conference tournament for the second-consecutive season.

The Knights returned to the postseason in 2017 with a fourth-place finish in UMAC play and an 8-9-2 record overall. Schone's team was among the best defensive units in the UMAC and shut out seven of its 12 conference opponents and allowed only 10 goals (three penalty kick) in league play.

Schone has coached eight players to First Team All-UMAC honors in his tenure as coach, has had two players win Rookie of the Year in the conference, and also had one UMAC Player of the Year.

He has also coached two of the top four scorers in program history (Bethany Schultz and Jenna Maurer).

Through his first ten seasons, Schone holds a 69-108-8 career record, including a 52-61-7 mark in UMAC competition.

Prior to becoming the head coach, Schone was the assistant coach for women’s soccer under Jon Balge.

Schone also serves as the Vice President for Student Life at MLC, and teaches courses in Biblical History and Literature.
