Hans Steinbrenner brings a wealth of high-level experience in sports management, most recently as the president of the Osceola Magic, the NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic. He led the organization's business operations, including strategic growth initiatives.Â
During his years as the vice president and president, he helped relocate the team from Lakeland to Kissimmee in 2023. While Steinbrenner was president, the franchise won the 2021 G League Championship, finished runner-up in 2025 and finished the last three regular seasons at the No. 1 seed in the league.
Steinbrenner spent 12 years in total in leadership roles across the G League. He was an assistant coach and director of basketball operations for the Idaho Stampede, the D-League affiliate of the Utah Jazz at the time, from 2014-2016. He was also on staff with the Austin Spurs (G League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs) from 2016-2017 as a video coordinator. In 2017, he helped launch the Wisconsin Herd as the director of business operations.
Steinbrenner grew up in Boise, Idaho, where his father started a mission church, Cross of Christ Lutheran. He attended Centennial High School where he earned three varsity letters in basketball and was a part of the Patriots’ 5A state tournament appearances in 2008 and 2010.
He then attended the University of Utah, where he worked with the men's basketball program until 2014, earning a degree in Mathematics.
Steinbrenner has numerous family connections to MLC. His mother (Carrie) and sister (Tarah) are alumni of the college. His father, John, attended Northwestern, which was amalgamated with DMLC in 1995 into MLC. While at Northwestern, John was a four-year letterman as a pitcher, point guard and quarterback.
