ST. PAUL - The Martin Luher College women's soccer team lost a non-conference game at Northwestern on Thursday by the score of 3-1.
The Knights took an early lead, as
Martha Balge scored her first goal of the season in the 25th minute.
The Eagles responded quickly, however, as Anna Hitterdal scored just 2:15 later in the 27th minute to tie the score 1-1 heading into the half.
The teams remained tied until the 69th minute, when UNW's Abbey Lamfers capitalized on a penalty kick to give UNW the lead.
The Eagles were able to add an insurance goal in the 83rd minute to put the game away with the final two-goal difference.
Emily Muir and
Hailey Johnson led MLC with three and two shots, respectively.
Jenna Maurer,
Rachel Naumann and Balge each finished with one shot.
MLC fell to 2-7-1 in defeat, while UNW improved to 7-3 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, October 3, when they travel to Northland. That game is scheduled to start at 4:15 p.m.
