ASHLAND, Wis. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team lost 3-2 in overtime at Northland College on Saturday.
The Knights trailed 2-0 after the first half, but roared back in the second half with a pair of goals to force extra time.
Alyssa Maertz cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 51st minute with a header past the Northland keeper. The goal was her third of the season.
Hailey Johnson scoerd the equalizer for MLC in the 67th minute, forcing the game into extra time. Johnson's goal was her sixth this season.
In overtime, Northland's Madeleine Weiland scored the game-winner in the 99th minute to finish the game.
Northland was credited with 23 shots in the game, but with MLC keeper
Julia Barthels stopping 11 of the 14 that made their way on net.Â
MLC was credited with 11 shots, six of which were on goal.
Jenna Maurer led MLC with four shots.
The Knights fell to 2-8-1 on the season and 1-3-1 in UMAC play in defeat, while Northland's win improved its record to 6-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
MLC will return to action on Wednesday, October 7, when it hosts Minnesota Morris. The women will play first in the remaining conference double headers, with Wednesday's game scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
