WINONA, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team was unable to get its offense going in a 3-0 loss at Saint Mary's on Wednesday.
The Knights entered the game looking for its first road win of the season, but SMU struck first with a goal in the 24th minute and took a 1-0 lead into the half.
Caleb King and the MLC defense kept the score at 1-0 for much of the second half, but the Cardinals were able to tack on a pair of insurance goals in the 76th and 79th minutes to put the game away.
MLC was credited with six shots and three shots on goal in the game, with
Aaron Swanson and
Aaron Markgraf each finishing with two shots apiece.
King finished with 12 saves in the game, and stopped ten of the first 11 shots he faced before the final two goals late.
The Knights fell to 6-9-1 on the season in defeat, while the win improved SMU's record to 5-8-2.
MLC will close the conference portion of its schedule when it travels to St. Scholastica on Saturday, October 24. That game is scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m.
