ASHLAND, Wis. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team played Northland to 0-0 tie after two overtimes on Saturday.
The field conditions were soft and wet, leading to difficult footing for both teams. The Knights dominated play for much of the game, out-shooting the Lumberjacks 19-15 overall and 16-4 on goal, but were unable to put any of those shots past NC keeper Colton Schreyer. The Knights also hit the post on several occasions.
The Knights especially dominated the overtime periods, but Schreyer stopped all five of the shots on goal credited to the Knights in the extra periods.
Caleb King was just as strong in goal for MLC, stopping all four shots he faced to keep the game scoreless.Â
Seven MLC players were credited with at least two shots in the game, with
Ethan Schultz leading the team with three shots (all on goal).
MLC moved to 5-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in UMAC play. Northland is now 1-8-2 this season and 0-3-2 in conference play.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, October 7, when they host Minnesota Morris. The men will play in the second half of all conference double headers the rest of the way, with Wednesday's game scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m.
