DULUTH, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost 3-1 Monday at Scholastica in the UMAC Volleyball Postseason Tournament play-in game by the scores of 25-18, 25-13, 23-25, 25-15.
The loss ended the Knights' season, while the Saints will now move on to play in the tournament against top-seeded Northwestern.
CSS jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the match after taking the first two sets 25-18 and 25-13, but the Knights battled back in the third set, building a 22-17 lead late in the game and holding off the charging Saints to force a fourth set.
The Knights were unable to force a deciding fifth set, however, as the Saints hit .276 in the final game to finish the match in four.
Kira Grev led MLC with 16 kills in the match, and also added eight digs and three blocks.
Grace Schultz was the most efficient hitter for the Knights, finishing with an attack percentage of .286 and seven kills.
Jade St. Germaine finished with ten kills.
Heidi Moldenhauer led MLC with 37 assists, and also added seven digs and three blocks.
Rylee Weisensel finished with a team-high four blocks.
MLC finished the season 5-25 with the loss, while CSS improved its record to 16-12.
