NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team was unable to get into a rhythm on the offensive end in a 51-34 loss to St. Olaf on Tuesday.
The Knights were within striking distance at the half, trailing 27-20, but were able to score only four points in the third quarter as the Oles began to pull away. MLC trailed by seven at 31-24 following a
Hailey Johnson lay-up, but were held without a field goal over the next 11 minutes, allowing St. Olaf to build the lead as high as 19 points on the way to the win.
MLC was solid defensively, holding the Oles to 31.7 percent shooting from the field, but shot only 21.2 percent on the offensive end.
Grace Schultz was the lone MLC player in double figures with 14 points, and also tied
Moriah Hackbarth for the team lead in rebounds with seven.
Erin Schmeling added nine points.
MLC fell to 3-5 on the season in defeat, while STO improved to 8-3 following the win.
The Knights will play one more game before the Christmas break. That game is against Central on Thursday, December 17. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
