NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team lost its final non-conference tune-up to Presentation by the score of 2-1 on Sunday.

The Saints controlled play for much of the first half, but the Knights struck first on the scoreboard when an Alyssa Maertz shot from outside the box found the back of the net in the 42nd minute. The goal was her second of the season .

The Knights continued to hold the Saints scoreless until the 62nd minute, when Jessica Weber scored the equalizer for PC.

The Saints continued to press the MLC defense, and scored the game-winner in the 77th minute on a Paige Posvar goal from Bobbye Pendleton to give PC the final 2-1 margin.

The MLC defense kept the Saints on the outside for much of the game allowing keeper Julia Barthels to stop 16 of PC's 18 shots on net.

The Knights finished the match with eight shots on goal. Emily Muir led MLC with three shots on goal.

MLC fell to 1-3 on the season in defeat, while Presentation improved to 4-4 with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, September 15, when they travel to Minnesota Morris for the first game of the UMAC season. That game is scheduled to start at 4:15 p.m.
