MANKATO, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team earned its first win of the season at Bethany Lutheran College by the final of 3-0.
The Knights won the three sets by the scores of 25-23, 25-17, and 25-23.
MLC fell behind 6-0 to start the first set, but came all the way back to win the opener 25-23.
The Knights dominated the second set, building a 22-12 lead on the way to a 2-0 lead in the match.
In the third set, the Knights fought off the Vikings to come away with their first win of the season.
Kira Grev was the leader for the Knights on the attack, while
Moriah Hackbarth was among the leaders in blocks for the Knights up front.
The match was a non-conference match, so the Knights improved to 1-8 on the season with the win. BLC fell to 0-9 following the loss.
MLC will return to action on Friday, September 18, when it plays in the first ever UMAC Preview Tournament at Northwestern. The Knights will open the tournament on Friday with a match against Northwestern at 5 p.m., and will also play UW-Superior (Friday, 7 p.m.), Minnesota Morris (Saturday, 11 a.m.) and St. Scholastica (Saturday, 1 p.m.) during the two-day event. None of the matches from the tournament will count towards the conference standings.
