DULUTH, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team lost its game at St. Scholastica on Saturday by the score of 72-63.
The Knights were unable to keep pace on the offensive end, shooting 33.3 percent from the field compared to 41.8 percent for the Saints.
CSS also outscored the Knights 21-15 at the free throw line, and scored eight more points (20-12) off turnovers, despite the Knights forcing five more miscues by the Saints.
The Saints took command early, building a seven-point lead at the end of the first quarter into a 42-27 advantage heading into the locker room at halftime.
The Knights cut the deficit to 11 heading into the fourth quarter, but were never able make a run in the final stanza, as the Saints never allowed their lead to get below nine points the rest of the way.

Jade St. Germaine each finished with 12 points lead MLC. Schultz made two of the Knights' four three-point field goals, while Schmeling also led the team with five assists.Â
Leah Nass finished with a team-best seven rebounds.
Four CSS players scored in double figures, led by Sam Brannen with 17 points.
MLC fell to 8-9 on the season and 5-5 in UMAC play following the loss. CSS improved to 7-11 overall and 5-5 in conference with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, January 26, when they host Viterbo. The women will play first in that double header, with tip off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
