Knights Take Care of V-Hawks 60-48

NEW ULM, Minn. – The Martin Luther College women's basketball team never trailed in a 60-48 win over Viterbo University on Tuesday.
 
The Knights jumped on top early outscoring the V-Hawks 21-11 in the first quarter to set the tone for the rest of the game.
 
The second quarter was more of the same for the Knights, as they held Viterbo to only nine points on the way to a 32-20 halftime lead.
 
The Knights continued to build the lead in the second half, never allowing the V-Hawks to get closer than nine points, and pushing the lead as high as 20 points in the fourth quarter on the way to the win.
 
MLC dominated the game in the paint, outscoring the V-Hawks 42-18 and shooting 44.1 percent compared to 28.3 percent for Viterbo.
 
Mariah Schoof led a balanced effort for the Knights with 14 points on 6-9 shooting from the field. Faith Schroeder added ten points and six rebounds off the bench, while Jade St. Germaine was a force down low with nine points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
 
The Knights improved to 9-9 on the season with the win, while Viterbo fell to 2-18 in defeat.
 
MLC will return to conference play this weekend, when it hosts Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday, January 30. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
