Knights Lose 80-74 at Finlandia

HANCOCK, Mich. - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team lost by the score of 80-74 at Finlandia University in a rare Sunday contest.

The Knights trailed by 12 (45-33) at the half, but hung around for much of the second half before making a run down the stretch.

Alex Lindemann came off the bench to make two three-point field goals, cutting the deficit to five at 76-71 with 56 seconds play in the game.

The Knights had several opportunities to make it a one-score game, but were unable to take advantage on the way to the six-point defeat.

Todd Brassow led all scorers with 31 points, tying his career high and helping him become the tenth MLC men's basketball player to record at least 1,000 career points.

T.J. Babinec also had a strong outing with 18 points, while Michael Paulsen led the team with six assists against only one turnover.

The Knights fell to 1-10 on the season in defeat, while Finlandia improved its record to 2-9.

MLC will return to action on Friday, January 8, whe it hosts conference opponent North Central in a game scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
