NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team closed a busy Homecoming Saturday on campus with a 3-0 shutout win over Northland.
MLC was in control from the start, as
Aaron Swanson started the scoring in the 12th minute off an assist from
Joseph Graumann for his fourth goal of the season.
Graumann would get into the act in the 21st minute, scoring his second of the season off an assist from his brother Nate Graumann to give MLC a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Aaron Markgraf capped the scoring in the 65th minute with his fifth of the season to put the game out of reach.
The Knights dominated the stat sheet, outshooting the Lumberjacks 38-8 overall and 13-5 in shots on goal.
Joseph Graumann led the team with seven shots, while Swanson, Markgraf,
Josh Koelpin and
Ethan Schultz were all credited with four shots.
Caleb King earned his first shutout of the season, stopping all five shots he faced to keep a clean sheet for the sixth time in his career.Â
The Knights improved to 6-4 on the season and 3-1 in UMAC play with the win. NC fell to 0-10 overall and 0-6 in league play with the loss.
MLC will return to action on Wednesday, October 5, when it travels to Minnesota Morris for a non-conference game scheduled to start at 4:15 p.m.
