MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team finished off a season sweep of Minnesota Morris with a 1-0 shutout win on Wednesday.
The Knights defeated the Cougars 3-2 in overtime on September 13 to open conference play, but this match did not count towards the conference standings.
MLC jumped on top early, with first-year forward
Joseph Graumann finding the back of the net off a pass from
Aaron Markgraf to give the Knights the lead in the seventh minute.
MLC keeper
Caleb King and the defense in front of him would make that lead stick, holding the Cougars to only seven shots for the entire game. King stopped all three UMM shots on net to record his second consecutive shutout, and the seventh of his career.
The Knights were credited with 12 shots in the game, led by four from
Aaron Swanson. Graumann added three shots, with his one attempt on frame being the game's only goal.
MLC improved to 7-4 on the season with the win, while UMM fell to 2-8 in defeat.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, October 8, when they host North Central in a game scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
