NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team tied North Central 0-0 after two overtimes Saturday.
The Knights owned the better of the play for much of the day, controlling possession and outshooting the Rams 27-17, but were unable to cash in their many chances throughout the game.
NCU goalkeeper Gabe Hartwig came up big for the Rams, stopping all 12 MLC shots on goal, while
Caleb King also kept a clean sheet with seven saves for MLC. This is the third consecutive shutout for King, the longest such streak of his collegiate career.
Aaron Swanson and
Joseph Graumann created numerous chances for the Knights, combining for 11 total shots and six shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Josh Koelpin also finished with four total shots.
MLC moved to 7-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in UMAC play following the game. NCU is now 8-3-1 on the season and 2-2-1 in conference play.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, October 11, when they host Bethany Lutheran in a non-conference match scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
