NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team returned to the winner's circle with a 5-0 win over North Central on Saturday.
The Knights entered the game trying to overcome a tough stretch of four one-goal defeats in the last five games, and dominated the Rams from the start.
Jenna Maurer scored twice in the first half, the first off a
Hailey Johnson assist, to give MLC a 2-0 halftime edge.
Mary Falck continued the MLC run to open the second half with a goal (assisted by Maurer) in the 55th minute. It was her second goal of the season.
Maurer got back into the act in the 63rd minute, scoring her third of the game off a pass from Abigail Koelpin. The goal was Maurer's 12th of the season and 48th of her career.
Laurel Hirschmann finished the scoring with her first of the season in the 69th minute.Â
MLC outshot NCU 31-3, and held a 20-1 edge in shots on goal.

Maria Tomassetti and
Sarah Rigge combined for the shutout in goal for the Knights.Â
The Knights improved to 3-9 overall and 2-3 in UMAC play with the win. NCU fell to 3-8 on the season and 1-4 in league play in defeat.
MLC will return to action on Tuesday, October 11, when it hosts Bethany Lutheran in a non-conference game scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m.
