MINNEAPOLIS - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team struggled on the offensive end in an 82-59 loss at Augsburg on Monday.
The Knights battled the Auggies on the defensive end, holding them to 42.5 percent from the field and only 12 free throw attempts, but turnovers and poor shooting put them in a 38-19 hold at the half. MLC committed ten first half miscues and forced just one Augsburg turnover in the first two quarters.
The Auggies put the game away in the third quarter, out-scoring MLC 34-15 on the way to the win.
Grace Schultz and
Mariah Schoof led MLC with 16 points apiece. Schultz added a team-best 11 rebounds and three steals, while Schoof blocked three shots and finished with four assists.
Schoof's three blocks give her 102 for her career, and make her just the third MLC women's basketball player to reach the century mark in that category. With four three-point field goals in the game, Schoof also moved past Emma Babinec into third place in program history with 126 career three-point field goals. She is the only MLC player to ever record at least 100 blocks and 100 three-pointers in a career.
MLC fell to 0-6 on the season following the loss, while Augsburg improved to 7-1 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, December 9, when they travel to Crown College. That game is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m.Â
