MORRIS, Minn. - Martin Luther College senior guard Todd Brassow set the MLC single-season record for points in a 74-54 men's basketball loss at Minnesota Morris on Friday.

Brassow entered the game six points shy of the record of 526, set during the 2002-03 season by Tom Engelbrecht. He finished the game with 23 points, giving him 543 for the season.

The Knights hung tough with the Cougars in the first half, trailing 32-30 heading into the locker room at the break.

UMM would turn up the heat on both ends of the court in the second half, taking control of the game early in the second stanza with a  9-0 run, and building the lead into double digits with 13:42 to play.

MLC would hang around, but was unable to break through with a run of their own to cut into the deficit the rest of the way.

Brassow was the lone MLC player in double figures. Michael Paulsen finished with eight points, while Austin Eisenmann scored seven points to go with six rebounds.

MLC fell to 1-23 on the season and 1-14 in UMAC play in defeat. UMM improved its record to 12-12 overall, and 9-6 in league play with the win.

The Knights will finish the season tomorrow (Saturday, February 20), when they travel to Crown College for a game scheduled to tip off at 3 p.m.
