NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team took control early and never let up in an 85-60 win over Finlandia on Friday.

The Knights showcased their depth throughout the game, as no MLC player played more than 21 minutes, and 13 of the 14 players who played in the game scored.

Mariah Schoof helped the Knights get off to a strong start on offense, scoring 14 first half points on 6-9 shooting from the field to push the MLC lead to 45-27 at the half.

The second half was more of the same, as the Knights moved the ball well against the Lions' zone defense, allowing them to get good looks at the basket from outside and inside.

The Knigths finished the game shooting 46.2 percent from the field, and also made nine of their 26 attempts from beyond the three-point arc.

The MLC defense was also sharp for much of the night, holding the Lions to 31.0 percent shooting, although they did make 11 three-pointers in the game.

Schoof led three MLC players in double figures with 19 points, and also blocked a pair of shots on the other end of the court.

Leah Nass had a strong game off the bench with 11 points, while Faith Schroeder finished with ten points and six rebounds.

The Knights improved to 10-10 on the season following the win. The loss dropped Finlandia's record to 1-19.

MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, February 6) when it hosts Northland in the home finale. That game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
