MILWAUKEE - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team was unable to recover from a slow start in a 1-0 loss at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Sunday.
Playing their third game in four days, and on the second day of back-to-back games, the Knights fell behind early when Isaiah Gronholz scored in the fourth minute on a header from eight yards out to put the Warriors ahead 1-0.
The two teams battled back and forth from that point, with the Knights' best chance coming on a shot from
Aaron Swanson in the 88th minute that hit the cross bar, allowing the Warriors to hold on for the one-goal win.
Caleb King helped the Knights stay within striking distance, stoping six of the seven WLC shots he faced in goal.Â
Joseph Graumann led MLC with four shots.
The Knights fell to 1-2 on the season with the loss, while WLC improved its record to 2-0-1 with the win.
MLC will return to action on Wednesday, September 7, when it travels to Gustavus Adolphus for a game scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
