ST. PETER, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost 3-0 at Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday by the scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-21.
The Knights hung tough throughout the match, but were unable to come up with the big points down the stretch of either of the first or third games.
In the first set, the teams were tied 19-19 before the Gusties scored six of the final seven points to take the lead in the match.
After GAC led throughout the second set to take a 2-0 lead, the Knights played the Gusties tough in the third, holding a 20-18 lead before GAC closed the match with seven of the final eight points to finish off the sweep.
Kira Grev led MLC with 12 kills, while
Rylee Weisensel was the team leader in blocks with four.
Heidi Moldenhauer finished with 15 assists for the Knights, as well.
MLC fell to 2-3 on the season in defeat, while GAC improved its record to 4-1.
The Knights will return to action this weekend, when they play in a two-day tournament at UW-Oshkosh. The first match at that tournament will be Friday, September 9, against Carroll.
