NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team was unable to keep pace with UW-Superior in a 6-1 loss on Saturday.
The game was part of a double header of sorts for the two teams, who prior to the contest played the final 28:04 seconds of a game originally started on September 23. The Yellowjackets led that contest 5-0 before it was suspended, and finished the contest with a 7-0 win.
In the scheduled game on Saturday, the Knights jumped to a hot start thanks to
Ethan Schultz's first goal of the season in the second minute of play to give MLC the 1-0 early lead.
That would be all the scoring the Knights could muster, however, as UWS scored four times in the first half to take a 4-1 lead into the break, and then added two more goals in the second half to finish with the final result.
Joseph Graumann and
Luke Meihack each recorded a pair of shots for MLC, which finished the game with seven total shots and four shots on goal.
Caleb King stopped five of the 11 UWS shots on goal.
MLC fell to 5-8 overall and 4-4 in UMAC play in defeat. UWS improved its record to 9-6-1 on the season and 6-1-1 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Monday, October 16, when they travel to Augsburg for  game scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
