MANKATO, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team clinched its spot in the UMAC Postseason Tournament Wednesday night following a 1-0 win at Bethany Lutheran.
The Knights didn't need the win in order to secure the tournament berth, but controlled play throughout the game on the way to the 1-0 win anyway.
Luke Meihack scored the lone goal of the game in the 20th minute off a pass from
Hugo Ugalde-Bemer, giving him six goals on the season.
The defense took over from there, allowing only eight total shots and one shot on goal. Senior goalkeeper
Caleb King stopped that one shot on goal on the way to his second shutout this season.
MLC was credited with 16 shots in the game, seven of which were on goal.
Joseph Graumann led the way with four shots, while Graumann and Meihack each put two shots on net.
MLC improved to 6-11 overall and 5-6 in UMAC play with the win. BLC fell to 1-15-2 on the season and 0-9-2 in league play in defeat.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, October 28, when they travel to Northland College for the regular season finale. That game is scheduled to kick off at 3:15 p.m.
