ASHLAND, Wis. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team closed the regular season with a 1-1 tie after two overtimes at Northland College on Saturday.
The Knights controlled the game for most of regulation and held a late second half lead thanks to a goal by
Joseph Graumann in the 58th minute.
Northland made a late push, however, and scored with just over 2 minutes to play in regulation to force overtime.
The Knights had several chances in the two extra periods, but were unable to put any away as the teams settled for the draw.
MLC was credited with 29 total shots, including 13 shots on goal. Northland finished with 16 shots and six shots on goal.Graumann and
Ethan Schultz led the team with six and five shots, respectively.Â
MLC finished the regular season 6-11-1 with the tie.
The Knights will return to action for the opening round of the UMAC Postseason Tournament on Monday, October 30. MLC will travel to fourh-seeded Minnesota Morris for the game scheduled to start at 1 p.m. The two teams will play for the right to advance to the semi-final round against UMAC-champion St. Scholastica on Wednesday.
