ASHLAND, Wis. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team was unable to secure a top three UMAC finish following a 2-1 loss at Northland College on Saturday.
The Knights entered the day needing a win or tie to clinch a top three finish, but the loss combined with the Minnesota Morris win at UW-Superior meant the Knights will host Northland in the UMAC Postseason Tournament play-in game on Monday.
MLC trailed 1-0 at halftime, but
Martha Balge tied the game in the 51st minute with her fourth goal of the season off a pass from
Lydia Bitter.
The Lumberjills came right back, however, scoring the game-winner in the 54th minute and then holding on the rest of the game for the win.
MLC outshot Northland 9-7 for the game, but only three of those shots were on goal. Balge and
Morgan Hill led the team with three shots apiece.
The Knights finished the regular season with a record of 8-8-2 overall and 7-4-1 in UMAC play following the loss.Â
MLC will host the opening round game of the UMACÂ Postseason Tournament against the Lumberjills on Monday, October 30, at 1 p.m.Â
