NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's soccer team will look to upset the fourth-seeded Minnesota Morris Cougars in Monday's quarterfinal match-up in the UMAC Postseason Tournament.
The Knights made the tournament as the fifth seed after a 5-6-1 conference season, while the Cougars finished the UMAC season 7-4-1 to claim the fourth seed.
These two teams met once this season back on October 17 in New Ulm, with UMM coming away with a 4-2 win. The Knights jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of goals by
Hugo Ugalde-Bemer, but the Cougars responded with three first half goals, and then added an insurance tally early in the second half.
The Knights are coming off a 1-0-1 final week of the season thanks to a 1-0 win at Bethany Lutheran and a 1-1 tie at Northland in the regular season finale on Saturday.
UMM enters the tournament on a two-game losing skid, but had won three games prior to that, including a 1-0 win over St. Scholastica that ended the Saints' 118-game unbeaten streak in UMAC play.
The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
