DULUTH, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team battled St. Scholastica to a scoreless tie through regulation before allowing a goal early in overtime to lose 1-0.
The Knights hung tough throughout the game despite a significant edge in shots for CSS, but the Saints were able to finally get a free kick past MLC keeper
Erin Feddersen in the 93rd minute following an MLC foul outside the box.
The Knights' veteran defense, led by seniors
Sarah Kell,
Emily Muir and
Elise Rosenbaum allowed 23 total shots, but combined with Feddersen to keep the Saints scoreless through regulation.Â
MLC was credited with three shots on the day, with all of them (including two shots on goal) coming from
Martha Balge.
Feddersen stopped nine of the 10 shots she faced in goal for the Knights.Â
MLC fell to 5-4-2 on the season and 4-1-1 in UMAC play in defeat. CSS improved to 6-5-2 overall and 5-1-1 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, October 11, when they host Crown College in a game scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
